Apple & Olive Oil Cake with Maple Frosting


This started out as another tribute to London - it's a Yotam Ottolenghi recipe - and yet, there's something very Canadian about it (it's totally the apple/maple combo). And it feels very appropriate for Fall; "Mmmmm... appropriaaaaaate" is what I said to myself while stuffing my face with cake.

Orange Scones with Clotted Cream


The English have been responsible for many great inventions - television, jet engines, David Bowie - but the best, I think we can all agree, is Tea. I mean Tea in the sense of Afternoon Tea, High Tea, Champagne Tea, or - most importantly - Cream Tea, that post-lunch/pre-dinner event that involves a cup of milky Earl Grey, a scone, clotted or Devonshire cream, butter and jam. What a gorgeous idea. Thanks, England!

... Aaaaand I'm back. Apologies for the lack of posts this summer. I admit I got caught up in the fun and neglected this blog - among other things - for a couple months. But it's September now, summer is nearly gone, and I've already started reminiscing about July and August. What a sweet, sweet summer it's been.
